About us and our philosophy

The Bearwood Parents' Association (BPA) exists to provide opportunities for parents to interact with their children in their children’s educational environment. We do this by organising events that will enable the Parents, Guardians, Teachers and Scholars to mix socially in the wonderful college buildings and grounds. Some of the events organised also make a small amount of money, currently about £3000 per year, which is used to enable other social events and to enhance our children’s experience of the college.

All Bearwood parents/guardians and College staff are members of the BPA and are entitled to attend the regular meetings held to discuss forthcoming projects and events. The meetings are run by the current committee “Office Bearers” comprising a Chairman, Co-chair, Treasurer and Secretary. A teacher also attends to provide expert advice. Parents who attend meetings are made welcome and new ideas are always well received.

Small subcommittees are formed to organise specific events and projects such as the Website subcommittee and the Car show subcommittee. Planning for events is deliberately kept as simple as possible in recognition of the busy lives we all lead. Contributions from parents in the form of time or expertise, however small, are essential to ensure that the direction of the BPA remains relevant and meets the expectations of parents and scholars alike.

We aim, above to all, to have fun and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in which the college stands, with our children and the staff who teach them. This website acts as an extension of our philosophy in providing a medium by which parents, guardians, friends and family, either near or far, can participate as much as possible.

You will come to recognise members of the committee manning stalls or serving burgers and you are encouraged to stop us and chat as the opportunity arises. Please feel free to voice your ideas and feedback at these events and through this website.
